You can politely ask them NOT TO SING. They won't do it if you ask.

You can still celebrate, still eat cake and blow out candles and open gifts but if you request NO SINGING they will honor your request.

If your mom insists, that's between the two of you, not the restaurant to decide.

Many Asian restaurants, not places like Benihana, do not gererally sing Happy Birthday. However, if your Mom asks the waiter to sing, they probably will. This is between you and your Mom, not the restaurant. Just let your Mom know that it embarasses you. She may be a bit hurt for a little while, but she will get over it. She is your Mom and will love you, no matter what.

Suck it up and let your mom buy you dinner and have them sing to you. Whats the big deal? Plus it will make her smile and feel good. Do it for her. I mean you seriously will NOT die if a bunch of strangers sing you happy birthday. It takes less than a minute to sing that song.

Or, do any of the other answers on here.

Just ask them not to sing when you ring them up and book the table. Try strada.

Well it is your word vs your mom's to them. They will see your mom as the primary payer and TIP Leaver so looks like you just grin and bear it.
