My advice to you is to ask the locals; the hotel clerks, doormen, etc. There are so many places on side streets, off of the main avenues. I highly recommend taking a subway down to lower Manhattan, getting off at the Brooklyn Bridge stop (YES - it's in Manhattan!) and going to little Italy. Or take the bus down Broadway and when you see something interesting, get off and try it!(you'll see alot of interesting things on Broadway... trust me!). Good luck and have fun!
